HVAC Control Systems for a Negative Air Pressure Isolation Room and Its Performance

The controlled environment room, called an isolation has become a must have for medical facilities, due to the spreading of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), isolate high risk infected patients. To avoid transmission virus through airborne routes, guidelines were published by government and association. A facility comply with this document high-risk patient treatment. full-scale N class room was built at Syiah Kuala University investigate performance in terms controller, temperature, pressure, humidity, energy consumption. equipped proper capacity heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC) system, which consisted compressor negative pressure generator (NPG), its installation ensured fulfil guidelines. Since current NPG manually, computer-based control system designed, implemented, compared manual control. results showed that outputs better stability electric power. For reason, chosen real case. 24 h experiment carried out under different parameter setups. improvement strategy temperature humidity is still necessary. consumption during activation recommended slightly different. An additional piece equipment absorb heat from exhaust would be promising improve efficiency.
